From The Telegraph
Counter-terrorism police have charged four men after raids on a network thought to have been sending young men to receive terrorist training abroad.
Israr Malik, 21, of Bowdon Avenue, Fallowfield in Manchester, is charged with intending to commit acts of terrorism, namely violent jihad, between June 1 2008 and November 17 this year.
Munir Farooqi, 52, of Victoria Terrace, Longsight, Manchester is charged with three counts of soliciting to murder between July and October this year and one count of intending to assist others to commit acts of terrorism, namely violent jihad, between October 1 2008 and November 17 this year.
His son, Haris Farooqi, 26, of Stockport Road, Levenshulme, Manchester and Matthew Newton, 27, of Rydal Walk, Stalybridge, are also accused of intending to assist others to commit violent jihad between the same dates.
They are due to appear at City of Westminster Magistrates' Court in London tomorrow.
A 62-year-old man from Deane, Bolton, understood to be a Muslim cleric, was released without charge.
The arrests followed a 15-month investigation by counter-terrorism officers.
I am interested in the way these offences are described as 'violent jihad'. Looks like awareness is growing.
