Saudi Arabia's lead climate negotiator, Mohammed al-Sabban, told the BBC that leaked emails from a British climate research unit last month would have a 'huge impact' on the Copenhagen talks.
He said the emails cast doubt upon man's influence on global warming and could deter countries from offering emissions cuts at the conference.
Saudi Arabia, one of the world's biggest oil producers, has long taken a sceptical view of climate change.
I don't think they have been caught doing that. The oil and coal companies take care of business. Saudi Arabia simply rallies the oil states and, what's more, the Muslim states without oil that are given to understand that this is their fight too. And as for global warming? Who cares? If for some in the West all those scientists are leftist conspirator, the Arabs know better -- those climate scientists must surely be Jews trying to force the world to believe in global warming in order to harm the Arabs. And if the Arabs know better, it's only because they know that Allah Knows Best.
"Skeptical," as in "heavy financier of any climatologist or organization who will refute the existence of anthropogenic climate change"?
