Muslim Attacker Bites Rabbi at Vienna Chanukah Lighting
Share
clear

From Israel International News
A Muslim on Saturday night attacked a Habad Rabbi who was conducting a public Chanukah lighting ceremony in Vienna. The Muslim attacked Rabbi Dov Gruzman, who is the principal of the Habad school in the city, as he was lighting a Menorah in a central Vienna square, pummeling him with punches and blows.
The Muslim then bit Rabbi Gruzman, detaching part of his finger. The Muslim was arrested and is being held for questioning. The Rabbi was rushed to the hospital, where doctors rushed to repair his finger, and (this is the best bit!) gave him tests to see if the Muslim had infected him with diseases.

This horrible attack - for the Muslim did not simply bite the rabbi (and how hard must one bite the hand of an adult, in order to partially sever a finger), but flew at him in a frenzy, 'pummelling him with punches and blows" - reminds me of something that Sir Winston Churchill once said about Islam and its effects upon the human psyche:

"How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries!  Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy...".

Let's look at that Muslim flying at the Menorah-lighting rabbi in a central square in exquisitely-beautiful Vienna; 'pummelling him with punches and blows' and then...*biting him so hard as to nearly bite off a finger*!

Now let's look at Churchill's words again: 'fanatical frenzy...as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog'.

Churchill's words, which may to some on first encounter seem exaggerated and strange, even outrageous, appear in the light of this awful attack in Vienna, as no more than a bare attempt to adequately describe observable facts.

I may add that before coming here to NER this morning [Australian time] I had just visited Jerusalem Post, where I read the story of an incident so banal that Jerusalem Post gave it little special attention: a local Arab Muslim with a knife on his person got off a bus at the Etzion Junction, espied two Jews [a man and a woman] standing side by side at the bus stop and - in a frenzy, it seems, for the woman sustained 'multiple stab wounds to the lower back' - stabbed the woman from behind.  Just like that.  And then ran off.  (Luckily, he did not succeed in killing her).

Whatever else one can say about this, it is not a case of Man Bites Dog.
