Allah and Quality Control, or, the Persian Flaw

Talking of quality control, it is said that Persian carpet makers always include a deliberate mistake in their carpets, for example the five legged horse depicted here.

The reasoning behind this is that only Allah is perfect, and so a perfect man-made carpet would offend him. But the five-legged elephant on the five-legged horse on the rug in the room is that if only Allah is perfect there will be a flaw in it anyway, making two flaws altogether. To insert a flaw deliberately, as if the carpet would otherwise be flawless, is to pull the wool over Allah's all-seeing eyes and the rug from under his all-trampling feet.
